Sri Lanka appoints Graham Ford as New Coach

Share

South African Graham Ford has been named as Sri Lanka’s new cricket coach, a day after Mahela Jayawardene took over the captaincy after the resignation of Tilakaratne Dilshan.

Ford will replace Australian Geoff Marsh after the Lankan lions struggled on the South African tour.  Ford’s appointment comes in the backdrop of substantial overhaul the Sri Lankan sports ministry has initiated  in a bid to improve the standard of the game in the emerald islands.

The 51-year old started his coaching career with South African local side Natal in the year 1992 and was later on appointed as an assistant coach to late Bob Woolmer when the team made it to the 1999 World Cup semis.
