Australia on top in Perth Test; India all for 161

DAVID WARNER

Oz opener David Warner smashed one of the fastest ever Test ton to cap a totally dominant opening day for the hosts in the third Test against India at Perth.

After an all-seam attack made full use of a condition in fast-paced WACA Ground wicket to bowl out India for a mere 161, Warner unleashed an onslaught of stroke play to reach his second Test century in just 69 balls.

Warner's blistering innings ensured Australia were well on course to claim a series clinching victory after finishing the day 149 for none.

The baggie green’s pace battery had earlier ruined the already under pressure Indians, trailing 2-0 in the four-Test series, with Ben Hilfenhaus  picking 4 wickets and Peter Siddle picking 3 wickets doing the major damage.

The ODI World champs have struggled away from home in the past 12 months and, after being whitewashed in England last summer, already face the prospect of a seventh consecutive Test defeat on their travels.
